Welcome back SPUSD teachers! This is the inaugural blog post from your new Tech TOSA and resident tech evangelist, Chad Bryant. I am excited to have a chance to work with you, and I hope I can bring my expertise in educational technology to enrich your classrooms. As I mentioned in my brief introduction during your faculty meeting, my goal during the first few weeks is to get to know you as a staff, and assess how I can best serve you in my TOSA role.

With that in mind, I wanted to share a few resources that I loved to implement in my classroom.

Class Dojo - OK look, if you aren't using this by now you probably should be. Class Dojo is a fantastic way to motivate your students, tackle classroom management, and communicate with parents. Setting up your class is a breeze, and new features enable you to create student-led digital portfolios and direct whole-class lessons on Growth Mindset.

Remind - School/Home communication made easy. Parents enroll in SMS-based communication with you, without the need to give out your personal cell number. You can even set office hours after which parent communications will be muted.

Google Education Training - Google loves teachers apparently, because they have two excellent resources for you to check out right now. The Google for Education YouTube channel has a series of videos called Edu in 90 which features quick tips for many of their services. I've embedded the Summer 2018 video for your viewing pleasure. The Google Teacher Center has also been updated and features tons of resources and walkthroughs on how best to implement many of its core products including: Google Classroom, Google Docs, YouTube, and more. You can also get Google Certified at 4 different levels.
